WATERBUCK
The Waterbuck
is a large antelope found widely in sub-Saharan Africa. Its 13 subspecies are grouped under 2 varieties: the Common Waterbuck and the Defassa Waterbuck. Males typically weigh 430-575 pounds. Their coat color varies from brown to gray. The long spiral horns, present only on the males, curve backwards, then forwards and are typically 22-39 inches long. The Common Waterbuck is listed as of least concern, while the Defassa Waterbuck is near threatened.
